On Sunday June 9th a dozen or so professional bartenders will compete in a cocktail competition in the afternoon. You're invited to come and sip the fruits of their labor and help us pick a winner. At 4 PM we will gather at the Catherine Lombardi Cocktail Bar, sip the finalist cocktails and nosh on hors d'oeuvres. Then we'll all sit down to a lovely pasta dinner at Catherine Lombardi while we tabulate the results.
This is a Pro/Am competition so If you would like to submit a cocktail recipe, please do. Send me your recipe (see rules here) and we'll pick the best of all the home-bartender submissions to go up against the pros. If your recipe is selected, we'll make it. If you win, you get dinner for two at either of our restaurants, bragging rights and a bunch of other great swag. If you don't win...hey, at least we had a nice day of cocktails. The cost for the cocktail hour and dinner is $50 per person plus tax and service.
We're featuring three types of liquor that are indispensable to the cocktail world and from three iconic brands. The world's best pisco (a clear brandy from Peru) is Pisco Porton. The most exciting Italian vermouth to hit American shores in a generation is Carpano's Antica Formula and Fernet Branca is in a category by itself.
