Hennessy Cognac Paradis (Another Fine Irish Product!)
Estimated Retail Price $650. Thursday we're pouring an ounce for $19
You may not realize that Hennessy has a history dating back to 1765, long before the first music video was even invented. And if Hennessy doesn’t sound very French to you, that’s because the company was established by Irishman Richard Hennessy, who became the most successful Cognac exporter in the world. You know I work the Irish angle into any story I can!
In 1800, Jean Fillioux became Master Blender of Hennessy. Since then, the job has only been passed from father to son and nephew. Yann Fillioux has been the Master Blender since 1991. He is the 7th generation of Fillioux, serving the House of Hennessy in this capacity. This is really an unprecedented consistency of style and quality
Hennessy Paradis was created in 1979 by Maurice Fillioux, Yann’s uncle. He chose to blend "eaux-e-vie" which had been selected by his grandfather. Today, Yann sets aside stock be used by his successors.
Yann gets to choose from the world's largest reserves of brandy aged for 50 years or more. Choosing from a range of Cognac laid down as recently as 50 years ago and as distantly as 1800. After blending, the Cognac is further aged in barrel for as long as two years before bottling.
The bottle and its case will be given to one of the patrons of The Spirits Project!
