Let me make a bold pronouncement: There is no such thing as an "Apple Martini." There are apples and there are martinis. Martini's are lovely things, when consumed in moderation, and so are apples. Martini = Gin or Vodka, Vermouth, Bitters, Garnish.
Now all this is not to say that the venerable apple cannot make an appearance in all sorts of cocktails, especially at this time of year. I've been having a lot of fun lately taking cocktails that are normally served hot and re-jiggering them to be served cold. The Spiked Apple Cocktail was inspired by the warm apple cider we make in colder months. It's got Cajun spiced rum, cinnamon, whiskey, apple cider, bitters, lemon and a whole lot of love.
Friday we will serve The Spiked Apple Cocktail in The Catherine Lombardi Bar at a 33% discount. We will pass hors d'oeuvres from 5:30 - 9 PM, and the most tasteful cocktail enthusiasts of The Garden State will be in attendance, as is their custom. We hope to see you there!
